How about sharing your thoughts? A name of a track you heard? Maybe drawing a portrait of your friend? At the music and arts festival Waking Life 2023, our structure was used as a notice board to record memories, send messages or express nonsense! But as the name suggests there was more than meets the eye…
Cladded using locally sourced canes, the installation hides within itself an internal sitting space incentivising further investigations of the installation. By crawling underneath the structure and uncovering the space, curious festival goers were rewarded with a candy chandelier accompanied by half-heart necklaces and were encouraged to find their ‘other-half’ (Or in some cases work really hard to match with your friends!).
Write Once, Look Twice is not a passive structure. For some, it became a safe and calming space, a place to express themselves or communicate, and for others a fun game creating further Waking Life memories and friendships.
